How does poor balance due to ankle/foot reduced proprioception feels like

January 10, 2018

Warning: You are increasing your risk to fall by following this instruction. Do it on your own risk, prepare the stage to eliminate dangers and ask help with balance if you deem necessary. Thanks.

As a professional health provider or instructor, you work with senior adults that have balance issues.

In this simple technique, you can experience temporarily, challenges facing by your older clients, and allow you to understand better how it feels to be in their skin, or shoes ;).

This simple squat on a chair for at least 15 minutes (up to the point you feel numbness and tingling in the dorsum of your feet) can make you feel, once you start to walk, for a few seconds, how a diabetic neuropathy in the foot or lack of proprioception actually manifest as a direct experience.
